Power BI Essentials is a hands-on, two-day class designed to make working with data easier and more intuitive. Objectives

This course combines engaging instructor-led presentations and useful demonstrations with valuable hands-on labs and engaging group activities. Throughout the course you'll learn how to:

  • Choose the appropriate method for data ingestion based on your data sources and analysis goals.
  • Use the Power Query Editor to clean, transform, and shape data effectively.
  • Create a star schema semantic model to organize data for efficient analysis.
  • Use DAX language to create calculated columns and simple measures for deeper insights.
  • Understand filter and row context at an entry level to write more effective calculations.
  • Design and build a multi-page report using a variety of interactive visualizations, slicers, and tooltips.
  • Publish reports to the Power BI Service and manage refresh schedules to keep data current.
  • Create dashboards to present key insights and share them effectively with your team.
  • Understand the different methods for sharing reports and dashboards with wider audiences, including apps and embedding.
  • Gain a basic understanding of Power BI's licensing structure to ensure appropriate usage and distribution.

Pre-Requisites

  • Familiarity with Excel.
